Landscape rotates everything so sleep/power off are displayed along the long edge in the bottom left corner of whichever way the Forma is held.

Went ahead and tested it for good measure and not surprisingly it doesn’t work in landscape for the reason you said. I suspect this is also why it works in portrait in both left and right orientation because as far as the scanline is concerned there’s no difference between those two orientations.

It does continue to work in portrait even after sleeping in landscape so it’s at least maintaining the scanline for portrait.

ETA to be clear landscape displays just the standard sleep screen not a image improperly rotated from portrait.

Surprises me a little that 180° rotation works. But all the better then.

Won't detect new scanlines until you remove the old ones from the config file.

You could try if detection works at all for the landscape mode. Then I could probably add a 2nd set of scanline to the mod, so it will work in either mode.

Oh I guess you need a 2nd set of images too then.

Well there are cases when it doesn't work on a regular reader too. Like while charging the device, as it changes the sleep screen (shows percentage) which also no longer matches the original scanline.

It's just a very unreliable way to do things, but I haven't found a good alternative

I’ll test this if it’s something you want to pursue with adding additional scanlines and images for them for landscape mode. But it’s not something I’m pushing for, I prefer portrait mode.

I’m not sure how plausible the additional things would be unless you can fully differentiate the modes to different images. Which I suppose the Forma does, but it may also just rotate around one image always lining up the corner with text to the bottom left and then just having an more than enough blank background to cover the screen regardless of orientation.

Anyway let me know if it’s something you want to look into. I’m more than happy with the mod as it is now.

the detection is the complicated/costly part, checking for two previously detected patterns (already happening as it checks both sleep and poweroff state) is simple in comparison

if the existing scanline detection already works for landscape mode, it would be an easy addition; if I have to come up with a new detection routine for landscape mode that would be more complicated

Did some testing for landscape:

1) cleared scanline info

2) initiated sleep, power off
(no result)

3) repeated step 2 in the hope that it would work as my first attempt with portrait)
(no result)

4) Tried initiating sleep after a few minutes
(no result)

At no point did it look like there was an attempt at scanline hitting anything, though I may just not have seen as I have nightmode on. Nothing was added to screensaver.cfg

I was able to instantly restore portrait by replacing the strings I posted above. Not sure what else I can do at this point. I could endlessly powercycle but if after two rounds (which was what it took for portrait) it didn't kick in I don't think it's going to.

And though it may have been assumed, this is also working on the KA1 on 4.10.11655 there was a little hinkyness, but eventually it drew those wonderful scanlines, and then default install images.

So with confirmation that the Forma, Clara, and KA1 are all working with this mod I think it's safe to say it's working entirely properly now.

Another KA1 confirmation. Important to set the timeouts and let the device hit them on its own as opposed to manually entering standby or poweroff.

Hello. Did you have to do anything special? Mine 'reboots' instead of going to sleep after I add the tgz file, eject from Win10, and disconnect the usb cable. After rebooting, the sleep screen just shows 'sleeping'.

EDIT>> Nevermind... after 4 reboots it's working!
EDIT 2>> Well, it worked once. I'll keep playing with it.

I have just installed the newest firmware (4.12.12111) and the new version of the screen saver on my H20 (1st edition). It works... in some way. After the screen "Powered off", the respective wallpaper blinks for a few seconds, then the standard "Powered off" screen appears again.
