Minor Fix For Calibre?

Anyone know how to suggest a minor change/simple fix, long time annoyance in calibre?

Specifically for this post, The Author_sort field (doesn't appear as a defined column, But/And if you try and use it as a user defined column, it says already in use)
i ended up working around that (tricking it) by defining a user defined column as Author Name As LN,FN built from other columns, template value {author_sort})
result, my author column shows the author as FN LN and then the user defined column shows the author as LN,FN
Point is that annoyance(missing field display/hidden field) has been around for at least a year) but been surpassed by all the talk/posts etc are should author names be FN,LN or LN,FN (seems to me just allow easy use/display of the Author_sort field, and you have BOTH ways), but to date i have found no way of suggesting a change/fix

@Marcs1102 - you can lodge a bug report and/or change requests here ===>> https://bugs.launchpad.net/calibre

You can view the author_sort values in Manage Authors - one way to get there is right click an Author name in the Book Details panel and select Manage Authors - you can also change it there - e.g. from the 'computed' John, Fred St to St John, Fred.

author sort as a column can be displayed, as you discovered, by creating a custom column with template author_sort. I dont see why any other approach is needed.

I have no idea what you mean by saying that you cannot add author sort as a user defined column. You can add anything as a user defined column and give it any name you like. For example, if you type author_sort as the name of the user defined column, you will get a user defined column named #author_sort

All user defined column names must start with #.

was the column heading that caused an error, said "Sorted Author" was already used, had to make it (the column Heading) "Sorted Author LN,FN" for it to work

not sure what you mean, it's still in the development forum, i just clicked "new thread"

and the original post asked the q
"Anyone know how to suggest a minor change/simple fix, long time annoyance in calibre?"

seemed like a new post in development was a reasonable place to ask...

ps betterred answered with the url for doing it (you can lodge a bug report and/or change requests here ===>> https://bugs.launchpad.net/calibre)
so in my opinion, i asked a question, got an answer.... so where doesn't it fit into the guidelines?

Read the sticky in development. You did violate the forum rules.

YOU did not ask a 'how do I write code for...' question.
