FEBRUARY 2018 EBOOK OF THE MONTH

CAPTIVE DREAMS
Michael Flynn

Quote:
Fine literary writing meets Science Fiction. A thematic tour-de-force exploring the concept of being human through the eyes of imperfect protagonists struggling with their demons. More than just great SF, these are great stories told with style, wit and sensitivity.

This collection consists of six stories set in the same neighborhood with the lives of the inhabitants of six residences tangentially interacting with each other across space and time.
If your preferred format is epub, I highly recommend you download the mobi and use calibre to convert to epub.

Wow, is the epub formatting really that bad?

Visualize an epub where all the styles are inline (stylesheets? we don't need no stinkin' stylesheets!) and all the text is in a single file which looks suspiciously like the output of a save to html by a word processor, in this case Aspose.Words for .Net. Try editing that for gits and shiggles. The .mobi isn't that much prettier but at least the calibre conversion added the in-line styles to a stylesheet.

Calibre also takes the inline styles from the ePub and makes a stylesheet. But it's still not pretty. Basically, I just ignore Phoenix Pick because their eBooks are not worth my time to make them readable.
