They (BoB) are also discounting all the Agency sales books that were .99 (now .66) and 1.99 (now 1.33) so I'm adding a bunch more impulse buys to my cart.

(3) The Fisherman's Daughter

Quote:
Description:
Three novels from Sydell Voeller.

Her Sister's Keeper
Logan Corbett, registered nurse, suddenly becomes the guardian of her 10-year-old sister, Kim. A former prizewinning gymnast, the girl was seriously injured in the same plane accident that killed their parents. Logan admits she's overly protective of Kim, but only wants what she thinks is best for her. Dr. Zachary Dellinger, a pediatrician at the hospital where Logan works, suggests that Kim should attend a summer camp for children with special needs. Logan agrees, but on one condition--that she will volunteer to be the camp nurse so she can keep a close eye on Kim. Under starlit skies and breezy summer days, Logan struggles with her growing attraction to the handsome pediatrician--all the while, battling the urge to hold on too tightly to Kim. Will Logan ever be able to let go enough to allow love into both their lives?

Summer Magic
When her fiancé calls off their engagement, veterinarian assistant Lisa Prentice joins the circus in hopes of escaping the everyday grind. But life under the big top isn't quite what she expected. None of the veterinarian's former assistants managed to please their short-tempered boss, and Lisa fears that her days are numbered, too. Michael Figaro, a dashing young trapeze artist, is also cautious about whether Lisa can stay, and because of that, he tries to keep his distance. Still, Lisa finds herself overwhelmingly attracted to him. Although Michael is the aerialist, it is Lisa who is flying on an emotional high wire. What happened to her safety net? Will their love survive?

The Fisherman's Daughter
Psychology professor Vanessa Paris receives word that her father has disappeared from his fishing boat in Puget Sound and rushes to her childhood home in the San Juan Islands to try to help find him. Tragedy has been no stranger to Vanessa--years ago her mother died and more recently, her brother. The possibility of losing her father now is almost too much to bear.
But when Vanessa arrives at the family owned tourist lodge, she meets Lowell Maxwell, who offers to help her search for her father. Back in high school, Vanessa harbored a secret, unrequited crush on Lowell. Now, he's a tough, jaded cop on leave from L.A., working for her father as a carpenter on a temporary basis, and even more dangerously appealing.

Vanessa and Lowell are like sunshine and darkness. Despite her losses, she focuses on positive action and the good in people. Lowell, however, chases down the bad guys, flirts with danger, sometimes even death--and he's determined he'll soon return to the force in L.A.

Is there still a chance of finding Vanessa's father alive and well? Can she take a chance on loving Lowell, risking the possibility of his dying too? And what is the dark secret that has driven him back home, a secret that has convinced him there's no longer any room in his heart for love?

Hm. My prices isn't that cheap on Books on board. I wonder if it is because the prices includes VAT, or if the prices will drop for everyone later ( I still prefer Books on board to Kobo's ever changing prices. Urgh)

ETA: According to Books on boards the Harper Collins discount is week only.

ETA2: Have I mentioned how much it is killing me to see the Swedish Harlequin's at Books on Board, and balking at buying them since they cost 13 dollar? ( I can the English versions for 3-5 dollar.)

Sheesh if The Great Escape fell to $9.99 I might just buy it. Only .95 cents to go!

(Got the hard copy from the library this summer. First hard back book I've read in.... forever!)

Looks like they must have had a blip this morning. All the books I bought earlier are now 7-10% higher. Still compare favorably to Amazon. Sure glad I didn't wait to load up my cart.

They definitely had a blip. I purchased 2 Agatha Christie and 3 Tony Hillerman books and carefully noted each price plus the stated tax. But when I paid through PayPal each book had gone up in price on the receipt (the Christies went from 4.68 to 5.31 before tax; the Hillermans went up .50 each, all before tax). Very little time elapsed between placing the books in the cart and paying for them.

When I contacted BooksonBoard I received this email:

"Thank you for shopping with BooksOnBoard. Coincidentally, just today HarperCollins has switched back from the Agency pricing model to normal eBook pricing. This may have had an effect on the overall prices of some of their books, however I'm unable to verify since we don't typically keep records of what books used to cost."

edit: It doesn't seem right that the price in the cart when you click to pay with Paypal should be different than the final price charged.

Bummer. You must have checked out while they were correcting things. My order was placed before noon, I received all the larger discounts from early in the day.

I don't think it was a mistake. BoB was having a weekend sale that ended today. Just wait for the next sale to buy.

I'm not familiar with BooksOnBoard (I have bought there only once) but if a shopping cart can last any length of time, then they have to allow for prices to change. For example, if I had put a book in my cart when it was at a sale price, but waited 30 days to buy it, I couldn't expect the price to necessarily be the same.

I understand that it is disconcerting when you JUST put the item in. I hope you had a chance to see the final price before clicking OK? That might be the best compromise in these cases. I know I store things in my Amazon cart for quite a while!

From now on I'll click Refresh in the cart before going to Paypal. The problem was that the cart, which I had just filled, had different and lower prices than the receipt. Paypal says that they'll give you a chance to see the final order before paying, but for some reason with BoB that doesn't happen. Oh well, I wanted the books, so I'll get over it.

I bought this when it was titled Dakota Dream and the formatting is a wreck. She never fixed it so I like to have the fixed version but I am not paying again.

Me too thanks to all who reported it! I was unable to do much typing today but after some rest my one arm is allowing me again. I just can't peck with my one with my right.
