You mean like those like background-image ?

No wonder, that I have not tripped that bug (and yes, It is a BUG).

I think I have used background-image, 4 times in 4 years and most of those were before 'reports'

the URL one: never would have tripped it. I use an offline reader, so I embed anything I use.

If you do decide to work on a 'reports', my vote is now: priority = 'Low'

FWIW - the report I most often use is the list of characters, PDF conversions and scans often introduce spurious characters - eg 'µ' rather than 'u'.

Oh, yes, I forgot about Characters in HTML Files. I use that one quite often too, although not so much recently. Need to add that back into my workflow; it's very helpful.

Just seen this (I was very busy the last weeks). Yes, Sigils reports are as well not perfect, but it is a central place where to find a lot of "more or less" important book information's. One for me very useful report (maybe not for other users) is the overview of used characters and the possibility to jump directly to the position used in the files.

Another good report is the one for picture files. You have something similar but Sigils report pulls important information in a way together where I can see them all at a glance:

I don’t know if this only works well for me, but I like this kind of reports in combination with calibre. And I guess, it will be a benefit for all to get an better version of this reports

Well, there is now a reports tool in calibre, thanks Kovid!

I have taken a couple looks at it since I am running from source.

@eschwartz - thanks, I hope Kovid doesn't mind a bit of early feedback.

The bottom of the character list in Sigil contains a string of all the characters found, it's usually sufficient to tell me if there's anything I ought investigate.

I like the word list - be nice to have it exportable

He doesn't mind my feedback, although I don't usually offer much feature feedback, more like catch-bugs-early-before-anyone-notices feedback.

I dont mind, but in this case, your requests were on the todo list already and indeed, have already been implemented. The screenshots eschwartz posted were of a work in progress.

One thing that really stands out is the layout with large white spaces between the lines. I seem to recall that it was a QT-thing, but to me it seems a lot of wasted screen space.

That will be fixed before release. The rows will look like the rows in the spell check dialog

Nice. Some questions about the 4 screenshots. Since they're preliminary, questions might not be valid any more

General Question: how interactive will the reports be?

Specifics:

Will a grid be sort-able by clicking on a column heading?

Will the columns be persistently re-arrangeable? For example, in the [File] report, I'd like the file type first, and then the file name

Will there be a 'collapse/expand'? I could collapse the 20 Text File lines into one to make the display more concise for the Style Sheets

If you click on a Filename or Image in the [Files] and [Images] reports, will that link and open to the file?

Will there be a Classes report?

It's nice that it shows an image is used 2 times, but showing the files where it is used and linking to the position in the file would make navigation faster

Just some thoughts
