Hanvon Shows off Tablets

or something... from tech crunch http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/04/16...akes-a-tablet/

Quote:
So there’s a Chinese company called Hanwang that makes stuff. And they have, um, models? And they’re making… well look at the one in the middle. She’s pretty. Ummm… what was I saying? Oh. 7-inch touchscreen, 1024×600 pixels with like a hard drive… where was this taken? When can we go there?

It will have a PVD coated case and… wow. Umm. Is she holding an ereader? And what’s that other girl holding? Do they have pictures of these ladies without the gear? Like for my desktop wallpaper?

No, ummm, availability. It’s just kind of… wow. I like their hair. It runs Windows 7.

there's actually more info available at their source http://www.intomobile.com/2010/04/16...-touchpad.html

Which says Hanvon is making a tablet called the Touchpad which Boasts a 10" capacitive multi-touch and stylus input 1024×600 display.

Similar to Wacom Pen and Touch but Hanvon makes their own http://www.hanvon.com/en/products/components/index.html

Running Windows 7 250 GB hard drive, 2GB RAM, USB 2.0, SD card reader
Bluetooth, WiFi, HDMI out, and a front facing 1.3-megapixel camera.

No price or release date

edit:

the press release http://www.prnewswire.com/news-relea...-90744929.html

says its available now in China

Looks like all the manufacturers fixed on the 1024x600 resolution.

Because the LCDs are cheap & cheerful, probably (can you say 'standard 10 inch netbook screen'?)

"Regarding Touchpad (Product Specification)

With the unique non-keyboard form and a narrow
border of fashionable desgn, exquisite and
detailed modeling, ...."

This is the kind of @%&@ (also known as rose garden fertilizer) that my mommy could have written about me.

m-reader is right that the Camera (at 130 mega pixels) would be great.

Can't wait to use it on my next trip to Saturn.

I vote that if they (any manufacturer) can't provide a release date and price that they get NO mention.

Hanvon did provide information. They are available in China right now. The price was mentioned previously at CES(per the video review).

This report just doesn't mention that info.

A very close variation of this -- slightly smaller hard drive (160 GB installed; can be upgraded to 320) vs 250 GB and with a 3000 mAh vs 4800 mAh in the press release -- is being sold on ebay for $620 including shipping. WiFi is B/G not N; 3G can be added.
