Optimum size book covers?

Hello,
I have just purchased a basic Kindle and can't seem to find the optimum size for images for books I have on Calibre that I wish to transfer for them to display on the Kindle?
Thanks in advance
Rebel

You have two choices. You an size covers for the Kindle you have now or you can size covers for future proofing so if you ever get a hi-res device be it a new Reader or a tablet. you'll have covers properly sized.

What I do is take any cover with more then 1600 lines and reduce it to 1600 lines keeping the correct aspect ratio. I do this using Calibre's eBook editor. It means that I have a cover that's not too large and one that's large enough for hi-res screens.

if you want to have covers just fo your current Kindle, you can size them to 1024 lines (it's always good to be slightly larger then the screen's resolution).

Thanks Jon for the quick reply, sorry to sound a bit stupid, but do mean 1024 high and if so what width?
No plans at the moment for the future, so happy to just have them for the current Kindle
