Kindle Touch serial port recovery

Hi guys,
so I've been trying to rescue my Kindle 4 Touch (one day it just started a reboot loop). I've tried every debrick method I've found online (including kubrick and other guides from this forum), but it seems my Kindle is stuck in "fake usb mode" or whatever you call it - for example flashing diags partition seems to go ok, but in reality nothing is ever written to the device (read-only mode?).

Now I'm going to try and recover it through serial port, which is located here:

Of course I'm gonna need usb to serial port adapter modified to 1,8v. I've found something like this:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/free-...093340377.html

and it says it supports 1,8v. Is it ok?

I would also like to know if it's possible to buy those molex connectors (like the one in the picture above). I've found them here http://pl.mouser.com/ProductDetail/M...WhsxkhIQ%3d%3d
but they charge 40E for shipping. Is there any way I can buy just 1 piece and not pay 99999x more for shipping?

Any other advice for my first attempt at serial port recovery?

The adapter's photo leaves me a bit puzzling. I don't see anything indicating adjustable output voltage, although the description looks fine. It might just be a stock adapter photo, though...

As for the connector - I'd just solder or use some testing probes clamped to the socket. Ordering at Mouser or other sellers like them will always cost a bit too much for what you use it for. Remember that it's all but certain you can really repair it...

If you happen to have a 3.3v TTL adapter, you could start by only connecting its RX (Kindle's TX, plus GND of course) and see if it is 1.8v tolerant on input - you might get an idea of what's wrong by just reading the serial output logs.

Yes, find one that is designed for 1.8v (not **supports** 1.8v).

That one is a dual output level - 3.3 or 5.0 volt serial port adapter.
You could use it with an output divider, like Geekmaster posted about, but better to just buy the correct device.
