Changing font size after converting Pdf to Kindle
I have tried to convert some PDF books to work on my Kindle. The files have converted to MOBI files but when I try to change the font size nothing happens which is of no use. It may be that I am doing something wrong. Can anybody help me?

Your pdfs contains scans of text, i.e. images, converting them to MOBI is useless in this case.

Yes someone else on another forum has said this also. Don't really see the point in having a conversion facility if it does not really do anything. You can read PDFs on a Kindle anyway. Thanks for replying though.

Images of text cannot be understood in any useful way by a conversion program, you'll need to use an OCR program (optical character recognition) to create text that will be understood by the conversion program. So, in reality, the conversion did exactly what it was supposed to, it was more a matter of garbage in, garbage out.

1st - As stated in the sticky post in this sub-forum, PDF format is the worst choice of source formats to use with Calibre, and conversions can range from decent to quite awful. 2nd - The conversion succeeded in converting your image based pdf to an image based mobi file. For the record most PDFs are text based and the conversion does a fair job in converting these to Mobi. The bottom line is as Manichean stated garbage in garbage out. The real problem wasn't the tool used to convert the file, the problem was your expectations that somehow Calibre was capable of polishing a turd. As good as Calibre is, you discovered that even calibre isn't capable of that feat. |

so if one has ocr software like omnipage, what should the ocr setting be so that pdfs with both text and images can be converted with scaleable font to be readable on a kindle?
