I'll put it on a separate thread and the Wiki once I sit in front of a desktop (so probably Tuesday). Editing the tutorial using an iPad is painful exercise.

Created the thread but I need to do some minor editing. The instructions work as is, for the most part. Will tweak it on Tuesday.

im trying to jailbreak my kindle KT3 (G000K9), but when i extract the kindle from the computer, the file dissapear inmediatily, please help!! i dont understand the instruction very well

Some questions:

1) what is the current firmware version and (build number) <- the number inside of parans, like that?

2) is this the same firmware version installed on the device when you first took it out of the box?

3) what is the full name of the file which "disappears" and the link you used to download it?

4) what error code is reported?

• Copied over main-htmlviewer.tar.gz > ;installHtml
• installed Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.15.N_install.bin
• Updated to 5.9.7 and then 5.10.1.1
• Registered Kindle
• installed KUAL, Python, Screensavers...
• Felt a sense of smugness

1) its the 5.9.4
2) i wasnt the first who took the kindle, so I do not know

The KT3, while still running the firmware version it shipped with, is sometimes an exception to the firmware restrictions listed in the first post (open the spoiler).
Sometimes.
That does not mean yours is after it was updated.

@theosoplayer: Your device's FW is too recent, can't do it. And you also just confirmed that it's not straight out-of-the-box, so, really can't do it .
