Editor search enhancement
The latest Calibre introduces the following:
Viewer: Much improved search functionality Now all matches are displayed when searching in a side bar with a few words of context. Could this be enabled in the Editor as well, with scrolling allowed for numerous matches? |

Editor search works on code, not text. And is designed to be a small panel so as to not be intrusive. All in all I dont see how it would fit.

It could be a dockable pane, just like Files Browser or Live CSS. Each result could be clickable - when clicked on one, its position and larger context would be shown in the File Preview.

Bit too much work for me, I am fine just pressing find next, but patches are most welcome.

Got it.
One last thing: could the code pane in the Editor be made (un)dockable, like the rest? If I'm proofreading a text with few typos, I'd like to be able to have the File Preview in the center and code pane to the right. |

No as far as I know Qt has no way to undock central widgets. Only side panels

@mikpana - have you considered using Sigil's ePub Editor with PageEdit. I find it a good good combination for copy editing/proofing of content.
now that the calibre editor has an Open With maybe its possible to use PageEdit from within it - I'll give it a try. FTR - PageEdit stems from Sigil's now deprecated Book View tool - developed and maintained by the same people. BR |

Unsurprisingly I can open individual html files in PageEdit, and I could open the content.opf file it will give PageEdit access to the entire book - that was nice 'surprise' Not quite as seamless as Sigil, but for me at least - good enough? BR Last edited by BetterRed; 01-23-2020 at 06:03 PM. |
