Happy New Year!

I did really well with my goal of something like 42 last year, so I think I'll go with 42 books for 2022!

I'm going to shoot for reading 52 books this year. I've done it in the past but it's so much harder to do these days with all of the distractions (tablets, smartphones, streaming video services, etc.). Retiring sometime between March and July and that should really help.
Did it! Retired and am over my goal now!

Graphic Novels (comic books) count towards my goal. AND... I really need to read more than I buy but it's so hard with all of those sweet bundle deals (Storybundle, Baen, etc.), library rentals, and free/cheap books on Amazon.

Currently Reading: Unsouled by Will Wight, Best Little Stories from the Civil War by Brian Kelly, The Complete Peanuts Volume 4

Books Read So Far (53), last three completed:

Vampire Tales Vol.1 (Marvel Comics)
The Man in the High Castle by Phillip K. Dick
Mudd In Your Eye (Star Trek)by Jerry Oltion

My Conclusion

I have read 47 books - my goal were 40, so that went well.
I certainly enjoyed all of the books I read - some more than others, of course.

As to my "soft goals":
  • 8 current fiction
  • 20 female authors
  • 1 "non-western" authors
  • 11 classics
  • 6 books with short stories
  • 15 non-fiction

Short stories will not become my favourite reading material.
I have a strong tendency towards the classics - and why not?
I found Spotify to be a decent source for audio books - not the biggest selection and horrible search facilities, but still...
Reduced my TBR pile from 694 to 671 - by reading but also by cleaning it out a bit.
