Hi everyone,
Haven't posted for a while (life you know ![]() I'm still using and loving Calibre and my new Kindle has never been connected to Amazon aside from registration thanks to Calibre ![]() I was thinking that as I've found searching for new books on Amazon UK not so great over the last few years I would give the search function within Calibre a go and see if it cuts out some of the clutter. I've run into a bit of a problem though, I've selected to search only Amazon UK but whatever search terms I use i.e Author, genre etc I only ever get 17 to 18 results, for example I searched Peter F Hamilton Calibre came up with 17 for Amazon UK, on Amazon UK search results were 112, Stephen King Calibre 17 Amazon 9,000!!, Stephen Baxter Calibre 18 Amazon 169. It's almost as if Calibre only shows the first page of results? Is there something I haven't ticked/ set? I would like to get it working as I think it could be a much better way to search Amazon than Amazon itself lol |

The calibre amazon search basically is an amazon web search it just fetches the first page of results from amazon, trying to get more would lead to amazon blocking.

Searching with Duck Duck Go in browser rather than searching on Amazon now works better because Amazon search returns so much irrelevant stuff. Even if you have quotes, each word in a phrase is a separate search into the results. It also returns anything similar with one word, so if the title or author is all common words you have to wade through pages of irrelevant stuff on Amazon, even if "Kindle Store" selected.

Still love Calibre, such a powerful tool and it lets me own my ebooks and read them how I want! (as opposed to how amazon wants) |

I find it's a lot easier to do my own metadata searches. I can use multiple sources if I want and I can use what sources I want. The problem (I've found) with the metadata searches is they are never without error. So I'd have to double check everything and edit any errors.
That's why I do my own. |
