So not more options here,as i find my ebooks mainly on pdf's..Maybe a bigger ereader with 7,8" screen size could make the trick..Also i do this process, cause i translate english books to greek.i use google to translate them.(i can't choose epub,so pdf os my only option) and also i can't find any free or paid at once at a lifetime software that translates epub's over 300 pages..

Tried many ways.Spent countless hours. The problem is that my pdf's are very old with bad structure.Only solution is either straight EPUB'S,either bigger e-reader.Or if i am lucky enough,AI could do this for me-us soon.

Then the solution is a cheap tablet to read them on.

(Method to download from Amazon: Go to the Amazon website and get the URL for the latest installer. It should be an S3 bucket "public" link. The installer file name ends with the version number, and also has the "build number" as a directory. Changing both of these to match the number above should get you a good link) |

Just to make Jon happy, I took the 2 seconds to generate the link from the KindleForPC-installer-2.6.70964.exe link.
KindleForPC-installer-2.4.70904.exe from Amazon The mass of junk after the .exe in the original URL can be disregarded. |

I understand that 2024 Kindles now lack the "download via USB" link on the Amazon website.
But can Calibre sideload books to these devices? For example, if a library provides an epub for download, can that file be converted in Calibre and sent to the Kindle? |

Yes. Unless you send it as a PDOC, you will likely have issues with the covers. OTOH, a library book is a loan so, IMO, removing DRM and converting is malum in se.

I personally think it's absolutely right that authors rights are protected and they receive income for their work so I do get why there needs to be some way of preventing piracy. Equally I do get why if someone has paid for a book they want to have some means of using it on a different device although I think most publishers of ebooks say you are paying to only use it in their ecosystem in their T&Cs and so even de-drm'ing to use on a different device is against their rules
I'd sooner there was a way to link your account at bookstores between major publishers (Amazon, Kobo, etc) so you can transfer your digital rights between them. But that would require some agreement on revenue sharing between them etc and in turn that would impact pricing. That is not realistic. Last edited by deleted_account23; 02-16-2025 at 07:51 AM. |
