First impressions

I bought a kobo touch yesterday and initially at least it has been a disappointment

I am upgrading from a Sony prs505 and was expecting a better product

Problems so far :-

Top margin is non existent , this is on epubs imported via calibre
Dropbox doesn't seem to be able to save files from the browser
Time , why doesn't this appear on each page ?

Hopefully these are only teething troubles but I am beginning to wish I had bought another Sony or a kindle.

Wait till you find out that you just can upload about 1500 books before cover pictures will be missing. Or until you get annoyed with touches not changing the page, strange delays (you press somewhere, nothing happens, if you click again the action is there immediately), that it is close to impossible to use the reader sometimes in your right and sometimes in your left hand without having to go through 6 steps(!) through the menu to change the settings (instead of making the device go to next page with a touch everywhere and uses wipes to go back), or that even though the Touch has touch it takes longer(!) to mark a passage or check a word in the dictionary then it takes on the touchless Kindle Keyboard.

Why on earth do you need 1500 books on you?

Thanks for this qualified remark.

PeterT, well, the website (at least here in Germany) says "Carry your whole library with you"...
And if this feature is not for you, it is for others.

One person on here claimed that he had to carry a bunch of manuals for work.

This would also be a reasonable number of Project Gutenberg books to carry around. You never know when the urge to read about life in the Ohio River Valley in the 1730s will strike you.

And is approx the number of books that can fit in the onboard memory of the Touch.

I had over 2,000 side loaded books on Kobo wifi and finding books was slow but usable with word lists of books in library. I bought KT about 1 year ago and book library without only book list choice only with cover thumb nail made finding books more difficult. Slider to get close to book speeded up finding book. More books on each page without covers would be better and search for tittle or author would be better. Books sorted by meta data is best but missing so far. Last software version 16 with excessive book covers without title & author above or below covers was stupidly almost unusable. This is when the 1600 cover then missing cover bug was introduced. Ok pat on back version 17 is better but still with problems. Bottom of home page smaller covers is worse as not much chance of reading cover title. The bottom smaller covers should be changed to just list of book titles if you insist on having small covers must have book title, author to be usable and pages of them, also add recently read option for that list to help reduce need to search complete library. Short list was ok making finding books easier without searching large library but now too short of list and can't read cover title & author.
