Two Kindles: one faster than the other?
My wife has had her Kindle since day one, last year. I just got mine. Hers has version 1.0.4.xxx (if I recall correctly), and mine has 1.0.8.xx software (if I recall correctly). Hers is noticeablt faster at switching pages. Is there something I'm missing, or have others experienced the same thing? Basically there's a bit of a delay when I hit the next-page button before it actually does anything, whereas my wife's is pretty much instant.
Thanks in advance for any help! |

How long has it been since you loaded books on to your Kindle? There is an indexing program that runs in the background. It takes a while to get through all the books.

I have just over 1 page of books (15 books maybe?), and so does my wife, currently, on her Kindle. I've had it for about 2 weeks now with books uploaded to device on day one. Been noticeably slower since day one, and hasn't sped up yet.

Does hers flash to black from one page to the next? There is a setting that effects the behavior I believe. You trade speed of page turns for ghosting.

Maybe it's just a difference in the firmware. You could contact Amazon and find out if that might be it.

Both Kindles change page the same way, by flashing white first. I wonder why we have different revisions anyway? Aren't they supposed to silently update over Whispernet?
Thanks for the help! |

In another thread, someone said his Kindle was slowing down and the solution was to press the resent button in the little hole on the back. Give that a try witht he slower Kindle and see if that works.
