I doubt very highly they'll need to tweak their hype machine in the slightest to sell a ridiculous amount of these devices.

Interest in a do-it-yourself third-party addon says very little about what kind of interest a turn-key solution might generate. DIYers aren't their target demographic.

If I remember right the KFHD10 was promoted as a great device for reading comics. My comics reading days are several decade behind me now, but I've found it works very well for that.
