near 6 months without firmware update, no news about new device?

e-ink development is also super slow. I wouldn't except to see a real upgrade until 2018

There was some interview where they mentioned bringing Overdrive support natively to Kobo devices. It's possible that they're holding off on a firmware update until that gets the kinks worked out. The interview said it would be available 'relatively soon', and was from May 2016 sooo.
