Data error- cyclic redudancy check
Every time I try to transfer something that needs a longer time (50MB pdf, or 146 jpgs of one comic volume) I get this error - cyclic redundancy check and it won't transfer it to my Cybook gen3.
For the jpegs, it transferred 120jpgs out of 146 total. Any solution on this? Thanks a lot in advance |

It should mean one of the files--one of the jpgs, in this case--is corrupt, and will not transfer. You'll need to replace that one. (And/or it means the spot on your hard drive where that file resides, is damaged. I don't know that I've ever seen a CRC error when transferring from a hard drive, only from CDs.)
Windows, of course, will not continue transferring the rest of the files; it'll always crash the transfer when it reaches the corrupt file. But a bit of trial & error should pin down which one it is. |

BTW: If you try to copy the file/s just on your computer (from one folder into another), are there any errors? |

In this case, though, I have a feeling that it might be the Cybook with the problem. Still, you should check both your hard drive and the Cybook just to be safe. |

Also, many communication protocols use CRC checks. One simple check would be to try a different cable. It could be that the cable that connects your Cybook to your PC is damaged.

no there are no errors when transferring files to folders on my hard disk.
only to cybook. and today it transferred jpegs 121-146 without a problem. But then i tried to transfer another volume of the manga and again it said cyclic redundancy check error about 10 seconds into transferring. thank you for being so helpful,wow... |

Sounds like the internal sd is broken then. Have a test on it.
if it is indeed broken, you must mail bookeen : support at bookeen dot com, they'll tell you what to do. if need be, bookeen's phone number 0033 1 45 65 42 56 (Or 01 45 65 42 56 from france) |

It's much more likely that the card is faulty than that the card slot is faulty.

- files with errors - faulty cable or USB slot - hardware problems (harddisk, cpu, memory etc.) - errors in file system of harddisk or CyBook memory etc. My best advice would be to ask a friend who knows more about computers and software to help on this! Things you can do yourself: - try other cable or USB slot (if it works: old cable/slot is faulty) - try other computer (if it works: first computer causes errors, but CyBook is OK) - copy files to SD card in CyBook (if it works: CyBook internal memory has errors) - copy files (that caused errors) to other external media - harddisk, media player, USB stick (if it works: CyBook causes errors) @nikolaskejd: If your CyBook is the one causing the errors, please tell us - we can give you more advice on this (there are already threads about that). |

It very likely means that you have a corrupt file system on the Gen3.
Connect the Gen3 to your PC with the USB cable. Open Windows Explorer. Right click on the "Gen3" drive, and select "Properties" from the popup menu. Click the "Tools" tab. Click the button to check the volume for errors. Never, EVER, unplug the Gen3 from your PC without using the "Safely Remove Hardware" tool in the system tray before unplugging. |
