Merritt, A.: The Ship of Ishtar. v1. 29 May 07

More wonderful storytelling from A. Merritt. Like the previous Merritt's I've posted, I tried to include a number of old pulp covers for art. The title of this novel is The Ship of Ishtar.

"Ship of love, ship of doom. The goddess of love and beauty was adrift on an enchanted ocean in a magic world. The myriad forces of satanic evil plagued the vessel of the red-haired, passionate goddess. Only one man, John Kenton, the American adventurer, could save Ishtar's prietess from the black magic which divides her world from ours."

And still more:

"There are literary authors and there are story tellers. On all-too rare occasions one writer combines both aspects in his or her work. If A. Merritt was not among that rarified class, he certainly ranked as a master story teller...The Ship of Ishtar" is a charmingly old-fashioned, rip-roaring good read."

I hope you enjoy it.

Already discussed

Gutenberg Australia has already been discussed in this Forum. Additionally, I beleive Mobilread has an extra server in Europe.

Our policy on this forum is that it's fine to upload stuff that's in any of the major PD collections. It's up to the downloader to decide whether or not they should download it, based on where they live.

As Don says, we do have filespace on a European server that we could, if necessary, upload the files to should a US copyright holder object to their presence here, but in the case of an author like Merritt this is highly unlikely to occur for the simple reason that virtually all his work is long out of print.
