Yes. Calibre has no limit on the number of users. Just plug your device in and there you go! I run secondary libraries - transfer a copy of the ebook to their library after it's been put on their ereader. This helps me especially with my Mom who comes to me after she's read everything on her ereader and asks for some new stuff. That way I'm not giving her stuff she's already read unless she specifically wants to reread.

As Tarana said, there is no limit to the number of individual users, but only one user at a time.
If User A runs calibre and then the OS option to "switch user" is accessed to login as User B, without first quiting out of calibre, trouble will arise if User B runs calibre and accesses the same library. |

You'd need to place the calibre library in a location on your PC accessible to both users.
Remember though that the settings / plugins etc are stored in each users AppData directory, so items like plugins will need to be installed twice; once for each user. The other option would be to use calibre portable which saved it's settings etc in the location where the program is installed. Again just install calibre portable where both people can access it. |

If you want both users to use the same global settings & plugins another option would be to relocate the configuration folder from %APPDATA%calibre to a commonly accessible location (e.g. alongside the library), and set the CALIBRE_CONFIG_DIRECTORY Environment Variable to that location for both users, see ==>> User Manual:Customising calibre:Environment variables.

Now that books can be added, metadata edited, and different users can access their own (virtual) libraries through the calibre server, I just leave my account and the calibre server running.
If necessary people can set up their own calibre library (my oldest daughter has on her laptop). |
