Does anyone know what an EA file is?

Does anyone know what an EA file is? I've noticed a number of files recently that have that extension (xxx.EA) at the end of the filename on my Kindle and I don't know what type of file they are.

The XXX.ea is an xml file that contains the data for the 'Customers who bought this book also bought' and 'More by this author' lists that now show up after the last page of the book, including ASIN so it can jump to the title's Kindle Store page.*
