If its OSX's quarantine, then you can bypass that by just downloading in Firefox or Chrome-since only Apple Apps like Safari and Mail activate it.

If it is a third party virus-checker/internet protector, you need to disable it.

You can also disable the OSX quarantine, if you know your way around the Terminal.

The quarantine seems not to be the problem. After removing Calibre and a fresh install, I removed the quarantine flag with:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/calibre.app
After starting and fist install dialog, the interface is still wrong but console log shows only this 4 messages:

Have you tried a permissions repair?
Also, check your firewall settings under advanced and make sure that calibre can accept incoming connections.
Do the same with little snitch if you are using it.

Yes, I checked and repaired permissions from the install CD.

I can access Calibre from iPhone/Stanza.

Maybe a corrupted download?
Since .31 just released, download that and try it.
It's running fine on 10.6.2 here BTW.

No, the DMG is correct and the .31 has the same problems.
