Internal and SD Card storage

I understand that the PSR-600 is formatted in FAT32 as is the associated SD card.

This format restricts the number of files that can be stored on the ereader or the SD card and yet the advertising for the Sony states that a significantly larger number of files can be stored.

Is it possible that the Sony can be re-formatted (and then the SD card) so that the "advertised" number of files can be stored?

I have only just purchased a second-hand PRS-600.

I understood that FAT32 restricted the max file size... I've certainly got FAT32 cards with over 25,000 files on them... and if you really want a lot of files on the card then you really ought to look at PRS+ to go on the 600 as you will find the card/file scan, database rebuild gets totally unwieldy with a few thousand files (gets to be hours long) even when just adding a single book...

Yes, the max file size is 4GB - 1 byte. Not many books that long.

FAT16 had a limit of 512 files in the root directory, but FAT32 does not have the limit.

And FAT32 is limited to 2TB on a drive.
