Calibre 3.48 font problem

I'm running Mac OS 10.13 (High Sierra), hence the old Calibre version.

The font I was using when generating covers is suddenly no longer working. It shows up in the font listing, but as generic text. That's happening to almost all OTF fonts in the list.

Is there something I can reset in Calibre to force it to reload the fonts?

Are you talking about the Generate Cover Plugin (by Grant Drake Aka Kiwidude)?
You might try and redo the font choosing. a name might have glitched.

Yes and no. I've been using the built-in cover generator (Edit Metadata > Cover Generation Settings), but when the font problems started, I loaded the GC plugin hoping it might offer a workaround. it didn't.

Since everything was working fine until recently, I'm assuming some Calibre preference or config file got corrupted and needs to be restored.

I have tried reloading the fonts several times.

Yes and no. I was using the built-in cover generator (Edit Metadata > Cover Generation Setting) until it started having font troubles, then I installed the Generate Cover plugin hoping it would somehow fix the problem, but it didn't.

I have reloaded the fonts several times with no improvement.

calibre queries macOS for fonts. So clean and regerate your macOS font caches.

Thanks for the tip. I've already run Onyx, which is supposed to clear the caches. but I'll give it another try.
