Syncing metadata (labels) on device
Hi,

I am new to this forum. I was glad to find it, because I have a question that some of you might be able to answer.

I have a Sony PRS-T2. It currently contains about 200 books. I changed some of the metadata (e.g. "Labels") in the calibre library on my PC (Windows 8.1) and would like to sync these changes to the books on my device. So far I haven't been able to.
I right-clicked on the Device icon and chose "update cached metadata on device" but that didn't work.

I would like the labels in my Calibre library to be used to define the collections on my device.

Can anybody help me? Thanks.

a General answer
In most cases you need to send the books again.
In some cases, you need to first remove the books from the device, disconnect so the device can update its bookshelf

Cached metadata is a file calibre leave on the device so it knows what was there the last time it connected and avoids a heavy duty 'all books' discovery process

I already resent the books: didn't change the metadata on the device. It did add extra copies of some of the books.
I was afraid of the other option (deleting and resending), but I will try this.

Wouldn't it be great to have a "simple" syncing button in Calibre that would allow you to sync metadata? (I have no understanding of programming or anything related, so this might not be as "simple" as I imagine)

Make sure that metadata management is set to automatic (iirc preferences / send to device). That works on older sonys.
