Keep having to re-register

Anyone else have this problem after rooting? At first I thought it only happened when I rebooted the nook. But yesterday and today it just happened randomly while I was using it.

What happens is when I go into my B&N library it's suddenly no longer recognizing the nook as registered and making me re-register. Not a huge deal right now since I'm at home - but could be very annoying if it happened when I'm not around WiFi. And my B&N password is kind of complex making it a real pain to enter on the nook (I've temporarily changed it to an easier to enter password but that doesn't solve the root problem.)

Anyone else having this problem or have any ideas what may be causing it?

Same problem here, prior to rooting, after first root, and then after 2.5.1 as well. Twice it happened during browsing when the Nook just "forgot" the sign on.

I rarely use the Nook anymore for wireless access anymore as I was constantly re-downloading titles over and over so I sideload everything now.

Investigating this. Learned on the nookdevs chat that the reg info is stored in a sqlite DB called "theDB.db" which is in /data/data/com.bravo.home/theDB.db

There's also a backup version of the file in that same directory called theDB.db.bak but the timestamps always seem to be identical to the main file so I'm not sure what the use of that is.

I found that when my registration was gone this db was empty. When I re-registered it's fully populated (with all kinds of info about my B&N account (bookmarks/shelves/products/sync schedules....) registration info is stored in the bn_client_device table and interestingly enough passwords are stored in plain text.

Permissions look ok on the file (644) (though the backup file is only 600) with system.system ownership....

So the big question is what is clearing this file and why...I have a theory it may be related to renaming '/system/app/FirmwareUpdateService.apk' to prevent updates. Need to put it to the test though. Will update when I see if it worked or not.

I never renamed that file as all my access is through 3g. Just some info.

Well it didn't loose it's registration until I did a full shut-down restart today. But it did lose it when I did that restart so I guess that wasn't the solution.

Mine is a Wifi only so if your 3G is doing it too that knocks out another variable.

Did you use softroot or the 1.5 method and install one of the packages or do things manually? Mine was factory 1.5 so I did the 1.5 root and used the nomad_package.zip package...wondering if it's one of the modified apk's in the package that is causing it.
