Seems like it's been raining some every day forever. The grass is getting taller and taller, and the ground hasn't dried out enough to cut it. Oh, well. The mosquitoes and green headed biting flies like it.

It's rained every day now since ..... well .... I can't recall any day within the past week or so without rain ....
The lawn is flourishing .... soggy .... with flocks of mosquitoes & other voracious bugs. The humidity levels are so high I saw a slug crawling up the sidelight on our front door! Yechh! |

Tell me about it! By the time the lawn is dry enough to cut, it'll be so high a 20 minute job will take at least an hour.

When I take the garbage to the end of the driveway I have to check the handles carefully -- I've already grabbed a handful of slug a couple of times. I suspect neither of us enjoyed the experience.

Finally, a day with no rain, just blazing hot temps. Happy 4th to my fellow citizens. I'm eating beans in honor of our third President. It was his favorite meal.

Finally! No rain today! Ran the lawn mower briefly tonight - lawn still soggy - but I did get the tallest stuff hacked down. Whew! Humidity still off the charts!

Yes, we got the grass mowed, but it was still wet, even though we waited until around three to start. I got the "dog pen" with the push mower and the wife got the rest with the lawn tractor.

Hot and humid today, but it's not supposed to rain.

Toronto and Mississauga are just finishing up a deluge - 120mm (5 inches) in about two hours. Subways flooded out, basements flooded. My own had only about 20 mm (3/4 inch) but a friend downslope was up to her knees in water. What a mess. And two power failures, first a short one due to the heat, then a longer one while I was mopping my floor. It's going to be a few days before we dry out.

Stay safe. I hate to think what the cleanup and repairs on the subway system is going to cost.

It has rained here every day since July 4th. That trend is not supposed to end until a week from today. We haven't had a huge uptick in mosquitos, but there have been spiders every where!

Unless they're poisonous, count yourself lucky. We've seen a huge uptick in flying, biting insects this year; not so many mosquitoes, but biting flies by the truckload.

Ditto here - for the daily rains, and increase in spider & mosquito populations!
Fortunately the biting flies seem fond of Tom - and have not ventured down here! |
