Icon Theme - no change possible

hi
i have been using calibre for some years now. after i updated to version 2.75.1 yesterday something went wrong when i restarted. my icons reverted back to the default set. i tried to change the theme to monstre - as my chosen one. but when i apply the change i get this error message:

calibre, version 2.76.0

i tried to uninstall and reinstall, but nothing is working. i cannot change the icon theme to any other.

any advice on what to do?

You have a 'rights' problem with your configuration folder (and resources sub folder)
The folder needs to be 'rwx' at the user level

madmads, welcome to the forum!

Give this a try, it's worked for me in the past:

Follow this path from the main calibre screen to do some cleanup:

Preferences > Advanced > Miscellaneous > Open calibre configuration directory.

Open the "Resources" file folder and then open the "images" folder.

Delete all the "png" files in the main "images" folder. If there is a "json" file, delete it also.

Don't open the subfolders in the "images" folder, just leave them alone.

Then shut down calibre and restart it. Go back to Preferences > Look and Feel and try to change the icon theme again.

Good luck ...

problem solved

thanks guys.
marty - yours would have been the easy way. i solved by uninstalling calibre and then i hunted for the folder in appdata and deleted it as well. after i reinstalled everything was as it should be - only had to create the libraries again.
