Question Looking for info on simple Google Calendar Hack

I work from home and I was recently looking for a way to show if I am busy based on my google calendar.

I came across https://getjoan.com/shop/joan-home/
But, it is $250 for the cheapest model and has a subscription.

I realized that I can get a refurbished Kindle for $60 on Amazon.
I can probably get a used one for even cheaper.

I have seen hacks on this forum for weather and calendars. Most of them require a server either on the Kindle (battery prohibitive) or on the local network. But, from what I can tell the reason is because of the weather integration for the most part.

I was wondering if there is standalone way to display a google calendar.

While the functionality of the Joan would be great in the sense of changing the screen completely when I am in a meeting. I am ok with simply showing my daily events.
I was think it could update once every 5 or 10 minutes to save battery. But, catch any last minute changes to my schedule.

Thanks to all in advance for any help.

P.S. If this is the wrong place to post this request, please let me know the appropriate place.
