Adobe Digital Editions and Windows 10
Anyone upgraded to Win 10 and tested this?
Does it work without issues? Is the registration key transferred and everything works. I've been totally skittish about making any changes to Adobe Digital Editions since I got it all going and it may have actually been on this machine, though I doubt it, I think there was a previous desktop. But.... It looks like I may be on an old version or ADE ... it's telling me 1.7.2.113 and it looks like it is up to release 4 something on the adobe site. So this leads me to think I might should update my ADE on this machine or possible do it after upgrading Windows for 7 pro to 10 pro. Anyone do this or have thoughts on it? And no laughing at my old version of ADE!! Thanks! P.S. I'm a couple of revs behind on Alf as well, but if it ain't broke...don't fix it. |

I have ADE 2 and it's worked fine after the upgrade to Win 10. Versions 3 & 4 support the new hardened DRM so I'm sticking with version 2 (not that anyone's using the new DRM yet AFAIK).

so I went ahead and upgraded to Win 10 Pro on my desktop and The existing ADE worked fine as did my ALF software....
No real issues so far, though I did have to have it reinstall different video card device drivers. |

I just moved to Windows 10 and now I'm having problems. Adobe Digital is telling me
"Error creating backup file: C:\Users\name\Documents\My Digital Editions\backup_manifest.xml Error detail #2038" Have not been able to get anything out of Adobe, Microsoft, Overdrive or Kobo. Anyone? Help! |

I'm the only one using this computer - I have admin rights on everything. I went through permission issues before and now make sure I have admin rights on everything.
I have been using the same set up for over three years with no issues - now I have issues. Since Windows 10 is the only variable between 'working' and 'not working' I think this may be the culprit - but don't know how to fix it. |

Try the following....
Rename the directory where ADE is staring the eBooks. Then create a new directory with the old name. It may allow ADE to do what it needs to do with a fresh directory. If thi works, you can import all the eBooks from the renamed directory. |

I would recommend sticking to ADE 2.x or earlier.
Some specialist ebook stores have switched to the new DRM, and at least by using 2.x you'll find out before successfully downloading the ebook, and should be able to get a refund (or buy knowing that there isn't a DRM removal option). |

Then some genius developed vDos as a tool for gamers. It did the trick! I can even paste from Windows Clipboard to WordStar, though I can't copy back again. (There is a workaround, but it is horrendous.) I only recently got his done, so I'm not going to upgrade to Win 10 any time soon. |
