I'd consider throwing them away, myself. If the books are in boxes, the odds of getting one out when you want it is slim IMO.

I've had quite a lot of books (in a previous, very small appartment) in wooden boxes screwed on top of the walls, just under the ceiling : zero footprint on the floor + visible as on shelves (well it's shelves actually) : only point is : you need to climb on a stool to get them books... Rather decorative.

That isn't going to happen (throwing them away, etc.) These are mostly books that I'll be using the rest of my personal and professional life... so that's not an option.
