Hinton, C.H.: An Episode of Flatland. v1. 10 Nov 2007

I've not read this one, but I've been curious about it since I was in high school. I've watched print copies go for $300 or more and not found it in any of the libraries I've lived near. Fortunately, Marcus Rowland of Forgotten Futures uploaded a scan to his website, which is incidentally an excellent page for finding Victorian era adventure and fantasy e-texts of all sorts.

Hinton was of course inspired by Edwin A. Abbott's classic Romance of Many Dimensions (also available on mobile read), but was more interested in developing the mechanics of how a two dimensional world would operate. A. K. Dewdney's novel Planiverse was based on Hinton's model for a 2-D planet.

Thank you for posting that. I think, however, that you may have inadvertently selected the wrong output option in BD. What you've ended up with is a plain "PalmDoc" file with no pictures and no formatting at all - it's just plain text. You need to ensure that the "file type" box is set to "MobiPocket Reader"; that will preserve the pictures and formatting.

Excellent, thanks, that's MUCH better!

It doesn't matter for a short book such as this, but the only suggestion I'd make for longer books is that it's well worth adding an internal "Table of Contents" to the start of the book. Unfortunately Mobi books don't get an automatic TOC like Sony Reader books do.

All you have to do in BD, once you've marked all the titles, is go to the "Insert" menu and select "Insert TOC". BD will put in a nice Table of Contents for you. Usually in the wrong place, but you can cut and paste it to where you want it.

Other than that very minor suggestion, full marks!
