GLIBC_2.4 Missing

I wanted a specific optware package on my Kindle, so I switched from the NSLU2 repository to the one at jlime.com. It had libc6 as a requirement so I happily installed that as well. ipkg crashed immediately after installing it, and nothing I run works, mplayer, ipkg, librerator. I know I replaced the C library on the kindle with a (newer? different?) version and that's causing the problem somehow but why?-

How can I fix this? Factory resetting does nothing.

Glibc releases are not in all cases ABI compatible (though they usually are w/ regard to earlier versions). You probably did a downgrade. Either do a careful manual upgrade back to the right version or start from scratch....

Okay. How, though? I don't have usbnet installed and Kiterm fails when I try to start it. Is there another way to reset the kindle back to default than the built-in reset?

I appreciate the help.

I'm not sure which way you used to install it, but basically: reverse it. You should be extra careful, though. Don't jump the gun as you did with the "factory reset". I guess you modified your root filesystem - so be careful. I never used optware, so I won't be of much help, sorry.

Hook up your 1.8v, low-voltage serial adapter to the kernel's operator's console port.
Do your work from there - if you can.

If you can't - follow the de-bricking instructions to start over with factory firmware.
