Previous versions not deleted.
I have calibre on my windows 10 (32-bit) desktop PC. There are 2 older versions still installed, and I can't get them removed (3.2.1 and 3.3.0) because the uninstaller isn't available. What do I do?

Are these possibly the Portable version (only 32 bit)?
If not, something is really broken on your system to allow 2 |

Why are you running a 32-bit Windows 10? It means youare limited to 3GB when running Calibre.

@stewart_campbell - If those old versions are showing up in Control Panel->Programs and Features try this:
Download the msi for 3.2.1 from here. Run the msi and chose Remove. If that works -- i.e. calibre 3.2.1 disappears from CP->Programs and Features -- repeat for 3.3 @theducks - if they are portables then the Windows Trusted Installer subsystem wouldn't know about them. It's a pretty safe bet that WTI is issuing the message. If it doesn't work try using a lightweight registry cleaner @JSWolf - as of a few months ago the likes of HP were selling 2GB laptops with 32bit Win 10, I suspect they still do. That's good, I wasn't certain it would.
Question remains, why and how did it happen? Are you up to date with Windows patches. I would run System File Check and keep a beady eye on CP->Programs and Features after adding or updating pograms. Do you run any 3rd party install/uninstall software - like those from Revo, IOBit etc. BR |
