Forrest Ackerman, a writer and editor credited with discovering the author Ray Bradbury and coining the term "sci-fi", has died, aged 92.

In my opinion, Bradbury is one of the more important writers ever to be considered a SciFi author. Even if he had never written another book outside of Fahrenheit 451, I would still say he was one of the most import SF authors ever.

Bradbury was a bit too "way out" for my tastes, but he certainly was a hugely influential SF author.

Ahhh, interesting question.

Was he influential, or is he influential?

Do any school-age children who now discover him in the literature anthologies find him influential?

Or - given that one accepts that he has been influential in the past - does that reflect only a past influence?
