Android 8.1 available for Mars.

Hey folks!

My mats got delivered with Android 8.1 last week. Somehow I prefer the launcher in 6.0 because of the quote widget. Is it possible somehow to activate it also in the new version?

I feel stupid, but I'm still having trouble moving from Android 6 to Android 8 on my Likebook Mars. I've been through the thread a couple times and it gets a bit confusing both about
1. which image to use
2. how to upload/update the firmware once I download the image

some of the requests and responses cross, so I'm having a hard time figuring out which is the most current. I don't want to clog up the thread, so feel free to message me instead, if you feel like helping.

The old launcher with quote widget was replaced with the new one some months before update to Android 8.1

Just leave things as they are. It's working fine at present so don't take chances. I've not noticed any difference after upgrading to 8.1 on my Alita.

Of course, you hardly notice any differences if you only use such a complex device as an epub reader, for example.
A lot has changed in this area alone - e.g. cbr and cbz were only possible with external apps under Android 6.

Watch the video, read and follow these instructions.

If it goes wrong, and there's plenty for whom it has, ottischwenk will likely say that all issues are down to the lack of ability of the user. Get as much use out of it as you can before it dies a natural death and let's hope that technology moves ahead to give better, more secure devices for e-reading.

I don't know of a single device where the update didn't work (out of about 800). Of course, I do not know what a few others have done that it has not worked for them - where even you succeeded in the update!
