Hacks Trying to do the screen saver hack and its not working

Hey all, first post.

im trying to do the screen saver hack for the Kindle 2, and i copy the .bin file to the root directory (well i think it is root, it is the folder that opens when i click on my kindle in my computer)

and then i unplug kindle and go to settings and go to update and nothing happens, the update is not selectable and it is greyed out.

I wound up having to do the USB networking hack to change the screensaver timeout (for a DX). Never got a good answer if the hack works for the newer firmwares.

The international version needs a new hack, which is now available - see Screensaver Hack for International K2?.

I had the exact same problem with a US Kindle 2. Update is greyed out and not selectable after following the hack directions properly for the screen saver change.
