Any chance of an additional checkbox "Show icons for category partition items" or change the second one to "Show icons for category partition items and item values"

And/or add a Show/Hide Partition icons option to the Manage icon for this value flyout menu.

Also, the ". . . on <whatever> in the tag browser" checkbox labels would be better if they were simply: ". . . for <whatever>" - IMO.

Added - I still don't understand why the Show [hidden] category item in the white space context menu can't be in Configure button menu

I'll think about this. I like the way it is.

I prefer the "Show category" in the context menu. It is faster to get to, and it isn't there if there is nothing to show. It is also in the Tag browser preferences if for some reason you can't access the empty space.

I add on that, inded it could be handy if the template is pretty big.

And the other hand, on a personal recomendation:
For template called in various thing like icon/color rules, I create a fonction into the template editor and then a call this function into the target rule, so that all is centralized in one place where it's easier to edit them.

Doing this really means supporting editing. If I can open templates then I will be able to change them. But not save them? That leads to being able to change icons. And the for-children flag. With reasonable visuals and undo.

The template dialog requires plausible data to run, meaning generation of fake item data. That isn't hard but it means that the template can't be tested beyond syntax.

I'm looking at adding editing, but I want to get it to the point where we can deal with the mismatched expectations.

The tooltip shows the template. You can right click and copy it.

@chaley - maybe it's all moot anyway, I discovered a couple of 'hidden' features.

Not sure this is by design, or happenstance:

If I select the Change <catname> category icon option, and Cancel out of the File select dialogue, then that category and its children will not have any icons. If I do that for all Categories I get an icon-free Tag Browser, which I prefer to having the category icons repeated on the partition items.

As can be seen, I can still attach icons to individual items, not that I will be.

And, the Show Category context menu is available in the context menu of the Category nodes - that's ideal for moi… now I've noticed it

Sorry, but that is a bug that I'm going to fix. Thanks for reporting it.

Knew I should have kept schtum

So how about a reward for finding the bug: maybe provision of a Show/Hide Partition icons option in the Manage icon for <catname> sub menu.

If so then to fix it you need to recreate the column '#added_date' but without reusing the lookup name.

I won't go into more detail until you tell us what you did.
