Actually, my chicken cave consists of a cooling system designed to keep the chickens cool. No chicken who has entered there has ever complained about being uncomfortable...or anything else. They appear to be very satisfied...and a bit stiff.

Those caves seem to be quite common, I found I have one too and after having a closer look I found two of my chicken roosting in it in exactly the condition you described
