Edit: Doh! The app on the PB is pdfviewer, not pdfreader. Sigh. Last edited by rkomar; 03-21-2013 at 02:08 PM. |

Forget pdfreader for one second and concentrate on this. Quote:
You forget that the thread you linked for download "pdfreader" contains the upgrades from Booxtor regarding CR3 and pdfreader, so don't joke please: they are still working or pdfreader and i call this to waste time with no results. If you have a better definition... You are telling me you *don't* have a firefly and you *don't* read epubs? And then, you have *no idea* of epub rendering on firefly, isn't it? Ok, read this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_%28Internet%29 It could be interesting, for you... Quote:
I've paid *now* 200 euros NOT for a next_to_come android device; i've paid 200 euros for an already_here_epub_reader that does not read epub well. This is the point. For me, they could develop also a telepathic ereader but all i want is good device for good money NOW. And, as last thing, this will be my last answer to your posts, at least till when you'll buy a firefly for epub reading. Addio HP |

Christ, you've made the one mistake one shouldn't make: buy a Boox reader, they NEVER EVER had a bug-free and feature-rich firmware EVER... Get a Sony, Bookeen, Kobo, heck, a Kindle, instead... It is save to say that this is the definitive statement about Boox readers in general... On another note, I understand what you find annoying and I agree they should have delivered a working product (heck, no proper epub rendering...), but, Onyx is one of those companies where the principle that the future will not be like the past does NOT apply... sell your reader to another poor sod on eBay and get a new one of the above list... |

@johnnyb: sad to say but what you suggest is exactly what i'm doing... :-((
My first ereader whas onyx-boox ( 60A model, if i remember well the code-number) and i was quite satisfied by it. Its only "bad" thing was the big button navigation system that was not so comfortable for me. I agree your considerations about boox commercial policy.... HP |

I have an Onyx Boox i62HD (not the Firefly), and I'm very happy with it. Yes, I agree it's not free of bugs, but it has functionalities that I couldn't find in any other reader.
It is my only ereader and I use it to read both pdfs (scientific articles and technical books) and epubs. I use mostly the pdfreader (I've only used the Coolreader to read an epub containing images, because it's true that pdfreader doesn't manage image sizes correctly). What I like more of the reader is the paper mode, combined with the margin crop options. I find them very useful to read multiple column papers. Of course there are things to improve, and I hope Booxtor keeps working hard to make the product better, as he usually does (I'm looking forward the new firmware update). However, I'm very happy with my purchase, and I wouldn't change it for another one. |

If Firefly is not able to render epub texts satisfactory for you, you do not need to sell it (and loose money), but use the warranty. If the goods does not meet the specifications and does not do, what it should do... It should not be any problem get money back. Also, you had 15 day's trial period, you had possibility to return it back without stating any reason. I understand your frustration, if the device does not meet your needs. There is only one solution. Buy something different that suits your needs. ****** I do not have Firefly, but M92. But both units share the same/similar firmware, so my experience from M92 also roughly applies to Firefly. I may see big improvements in firmware and device usability in past 15 months. Many of us would wish the progress would be faster, but thanks God (and Booxstor ) for what has been done in past time. |

Onyx was focused on porting Android, I guess. And now hopefully again on classic firmware, I hope.
Well, we'll see... As I said before, things take time. More time than one would wish... I guess Onyx works on firmware, there was a new Czech firmware for M92 quite recently. |
