I'm old, but to broke to invest in anything......
But as I said else where, the average age of iPad users on the iPad forums are way higher then other "tech" forums. On ipadforums.net about 1/4 the folks are over 55! Over half are over 45..... |

Not a man. Not a Yahoo user. I am in the age range and use iPad for investing. Love the Bloomberg app, for instance. Portable, updated investment info was one of my priorities.
I met a guy at Best Buy who was checking out iPads to better follow the currency markets. |

I certainly fit the age profile, but I never have any money to invest - I spend it all on gadgets .

YEAH, gadgets, gadgets, gadgets. There goes my money, too.
I made a nice cheap diy case though for my ipad (cheap in terms of material used). But It took me about 7hrs to put it together. Onc I've downloaded the pictures, I'll post an instructable(s.com). |

Older than 36 and younger than 55. Haven't used Yahoo as a search engine in years but still have some active groups there. I, too, am a Googler.

So what does this study tell us? That all statistic is just a more or less educated guess based on a small group of people being asked which probably doesn't represent the whole population. What news!
I think it doesn't really matter and yahoo and ipad users as well as google, bing, sony, toshiba, heinz-ketchup users are to be found almost everywhere |

Doesn't the Kindle also have a much higher than average demographic as well?
It doesn't surprise me in either case tbh, they are both useful devices but far less than essential purchases for the vast majority of people. |

It is nice to know I have company! I've used Yahoo for years, love my iMac (but have only had it for a year) and now love my iPad. Even more important is that I am now a new grandfather but am using dziadzio (Polish for grandpa) around him!

As far as what this info tells us, it's pretty much in line with what other surveys have produced: Lots of iPad owners appear to be more affluent than the general population, and they tend to fall in a certain age range. Common sense indicates that iPad owners will tend to be affluent, because it's an expensive device that's not vital. A company like Yahoo cannot go around telling advertisers that, "Hey, common sense tells us .... " They want something more solid. You can argue about how solid this info is, but it's more useful to Yahoo than not. Stats are only useful with common sense and context, I figure. I'm more likely to find stats useful if various sources are producing results along the same lines. No guarantee, of course, but I figure it's logical to piece things together, rather than to dismiss all stats wholesale. |
