Archive.org adds Mobi format for most of 1.8m books
I just found this on Resource Shelf:

They've already had EPub for a while, Nate.
What they do is run the text files which are automatically generated from the PDFs into ePub and mobi converters. So the books will contain a number of OCR errors. But they are usually still readable. |

Incidentally, they're now also offering Daisy format automatic audio conversions on their books.
