Misc to designation of title/sub-title and cover!
I downloaded a book from Gutenberg as EPUB (with images). It is called the time being pg36779-images.epub and comes without cover. Taken in calibre the full title is Die Lobensteiner reisen nach Böhmen / Zwölf Novellen und Geschichten, see calibre screenshot.png. Picture The Lobensteiner travel .... png shows the memory file. Here would seem desirable the entry without subtitle. Why the ä, ö and ü are not written - adjustable? Cover download is unsuccessful, so I generate an own cover. There are various possibilities, e.g. cover (Blocks).png. The disturbing is evident: The sub-title Zwölf Novellen und Geschichten should appear complete, in a smaller font and seperated (without slash). I studied the whole page 'Cover generation settings', especially 'Fonts and Sizes' and 'Text' - I didn't found the solution. Who got an idea on one or more of the issues raised? Also do remember that file names in the library are limited to ASCII; save to disk preferences do offer the option of disabling this option, but this ONLY applies to a save to disk, and NOT to the main calibre database.
*** To clarify: by library I mean the actual files / directories that comprise the calibre datastore, and not the library as displayed in calibre itself. If you look at the O/P's screen shots, one of them DOES show a Windows Explorer view of the directory where this book is stored. Last edited by PeterT; 11-19-2014 at 06:38 PM. |

I can't help with the cover generation, but google found these, maybe one of them would suffice instead?
