Solution for weak/bad design "catches" on covers ?
I notice there are problems with a lot of covers that hold (or don't!) or obscure the readers .
I may have an answer. In the UK anyway, but I'm sure "globally" car accessories sell a small panel (6in x 3in approx) of self-adhesive silicone-y thin stuff for stopping things sliding on dashboards, like glasses etc... It feels tacky/sticky but doesn't leave nasties behind, easy to peel off and refit, can be washed to renew adhesive qualities, can be cut to size/shape, and is, in general, A Good Thing. And very cheap......... So, a piece of this , whatever size you want, attached to reader or cover, will hold the device in place like...well ... glue ! It will work on practically any material, certainly metal or plastic, will work, as far as I can see, on any cover/reader. So you can buy the colour you want, cut off the bothersome straps, and away you go. Kicks self for not "inventing" pack to sell to ereader owners !! :smack Last edited by carpetmojo; 03-21-2011 at 06:38 AM. Reason: typo |

Even though this is a good tipp, why on earth should anyone be forced to do this when they buy a cover designed for their device? One can at least demand it to fit the damned thing for the money one paid!

".........designed for their device? "
Aye, but there's the rub, the words 'designed for' - sometimes (not just ebook covers either) I think a generic item is made for a purpose, and then mildly adapted for different lines/models. And, some people have said they like a cover which is made for other makes of ereaders, that would accept another with the use of this wheeze - or 'improve' the fit of others, rather like putting an insole into a shoe ? |

Well, of course you shouldn't have to..................
But, sadly, in the real world you do, on occasion, have to - 'cos "they" are not asking you what you want, "they" are taking the average mean solution that's going to make them the most profit, and is acceptable to most involved. Hence a little suggestion, that in some form, could even have been incorporated originally, but which I thought might be of help to the odd person who had a problem. Son if it upsets you that much - have you complained - no, really complained, to the manufacturers ? No good moaning at me.......... And might you still be looking at something to solve your problem afterwards anyway. I just thought it might help someone ? |
