Does your public library have: Electronic Devices Lending Services?

I was surprised to see this at our local branches site:

Electronic Devices Lending Services

Cleveland Heights–University Heights Public Library is now offering patrons the ability to check out several different types of electronic devices. This service allows patrons to try out eReaders and the Apple iPad to get familiar with these popular devices.

In the past there was a hands on for kindle at their computer classroom but this is nice really looking forward to my ipad appointment

(can't afford to hold one otherwise

edit: They also have a faqs and guided tours, and tutorials for the four devices:
Nook, Nook color, Kindle, and ipad

Well, my library has at least reached the stage of sending out a survey about ebooks to its members - I'm not holding my breath they'll start lending ebooks any time soon.

Interesting. My local library is part of consortium of libraries in the region that banded together under one digital loaning program using ADE and Overdrive. Next time I go to the physical library building I'll ask if they loan devices.

Our county library system lends e-books and audiobooks, but as far as I know they do not loan the reading devices. I'll have to ask about that. It would be awesome!

Not my local library precisely, but the not-so-local-library within public transit distance has had a Kindle-lending program since July, and their "other media" page says they also have Kobo and Sony readers for people to at least look at in-library.

Apparently it can afford this because it's in a pretty affluent area that also serves as something of a retirement community for seniors.

Our county library has "info sessions" every so often where they have the e-readers but I don't think that they loan the actual e-readers out to patrons...

I think it is a really neat idea for folks who are not familiar with e-readers to get an introduction. I would love to see more libraries have a loaner program like that.

My library doesn't lend ebook readers, but it has a little collection of four devices (iPad, Kindle3, Sony650 and iRiver) that everyone can try out there.
