unable to transfer anything to PRS-700 using calibre

My PRS-700 is detected and shows on the calibre home screen. I'm trying to transfer the BBC news as created by calibre

I'm running the latest version of calibre on a PC running Linux Mint Gloria, fully patched.

I get this error message:

(30, 'Read-only file system')

IOError: [Errno 30] Read-only file system: '/media/disk/database/media/books/news/The BBC _Wed, 05 Aug 2009_/The BBC _Wed, 05 Aug 2009_ - calibre_1.epub'

Only other thing I can usefully add is that calibre says "connected PRS700" and a box comes up saying "sending books to device" and that the pRS700 also appears as a 440.4 MB Device on my desktop.

I *really* hope you can help - the software looks just what I have been looking for!

I would post this in the Calibre forum. I think you would have a much better chance of getting a quick response.
