Per-recipe settings without editing the recipe?

Not sure if this has been discussed in the past as nothing came up in a search. But it would be very valuable to have some sort of interaction where there could be per-recipe settings stored in the UI in the same place where login/pass are entered.

For example, as recipes are updated, if there are any customizations made, you have to go back and merge the new changes. For example, in NY Times, I have a long list of categories to exclude and such. Each time there's a recipe update I have to go in to the app and delete the existing custom recipe, make a new custom recipe from the new system recipe, then add my exclusion settings.

Has anyone figured out a way to do this in the existing application?

Cheers

The only way to do it is to overload username/password, maybe store JSON in them and have the recipe interpret that. Anything more would require changes in calibre.

Ah that's a cool idea. Would you consider allowing built-in recipes be modified to take advantage of that? It should retain backwards compatibility of course.

I dont think having users type JSON into a line edit control is good idea, for general use, sorry.
