ScienceDirect making 4'000 e-books available

via PR Newswire today:

Quote:
Elsevier, a leading publisher of scientific, technical and medical (STM) information, today announced the availability of more than 4,000 eBooks on ScienceDirect. eBooks on ScienceDirect comprise high-quality selected titles published from 1995 to the present. These include scientific and technical books spanning 18 subject areas, as well as books from renowned imprints including Pergamon and Academic Press. The launch is a major expansion to the reference works, handbooks and book series already available on ScienceDirect.

The eBooks on ScienceDirect program will, for the first time, make virtually all of Elsevier's Science and Technology academic publication catalogue of books fully searchable. eBooks will be linked not only with other referenced book series, handbooks and reference works, but also the world's largest repository of full-text journal content. This development offers researchers a significantly broader perspective of their field of study, from a single industry leading interface.

I see, reading the article, that these will not be "standalone" eBooks, but rather on-line searchable eBooks.
