Is there any encryption program for docs?

There are several good encryption programs for Windows that let word documents be encrypted and unencrypted. The one I use is AxCrypt, but they have not yet developed a version for Android.

Anybody know of one that will work for docs on the Kindle Fire?

in Word: Click File>Info>Protect Document> Encrypt with Password.

Then email it to the address supplied by Amazon to re-code it for the Amazon Kindle. Then go to "Manage Your Kindle" at Amazon and send it to your device.

When you open the document in the Kindle, you will be asked to enter your password.

Try a test case first to be sure it all works properly.

Surely this cannot work. Amazon would need to crack the encryption in order to convert it to Kindle format. And Kindle format has no password protection feature.

If you write to PDF you can set a password on that, and Kindle Touch and Paperwhite (at least) will prompt for one when you open. I don't know if Fire supports that, but I think it probably does. If you go PDF route I would suggest changing the page size and margins of the Word document so that it looks the way you'd like it to on the smaller-than-8.5x11" screen.

If the Fire reading app does not support PDF passwords, there are PDF reading apps that will: Adobe Reader, EzPDF, etc.

In case anybody is interested, I found an excellet free app for encryption of documents. It is S.S.E. Universal Encrypter.

It is also a password manager, and works very well.

And the price is right.
